Kent Futures Jamboree

Date published: 17 Aug 2022

On a delightfully overcast day at Littlestone Warren, twelve youngsters teed it up to compete in the Futures Jamboree and, although we were few in number, we were big on enthusiasm. The rain timed its arrival perfectly for tee-off but did at least do the decent thing in restricting itself to a light drizzle for the duration. Better still, the competitors set a terrific pace with most of the groups round in under three hours. Must have been the promise of the post-golf cheeseburger.

We had some terrific scoring with the under 10s gross prize being taken by Caleb Twyman (Prince's) with 23 points, and the under 10s nett prize being won by Morgan Simpson (Upchurch River Valley) with 32 points (both over 14 holes).

The Under 13s prizes went to Arthur Saunders (Littlestone), who won the best gross with a splendid 39 points playing off a handicap of 3, and Elsa Gao (Sundridge Park), who won the nett with a very impressive 48 points.

There was a special achievement award for Marley Simpson who, although not yet eligible to take a prize, still came along to compete and gain some experience and scored a fantastic 58 points!

Well done to everyone who attended and enjoyed the day; lovely to see so many smiling faces.
