Another beautiful day laid on by Kent Golf! It was wall-to-wall sunshine at Lamberhurst Golf Club for this year's ABCD Autumn Meeting. This competition is for women of all handicaps with prizes for the following: A Division - plus to 12.4, B Division - 12.5 to 22.4, C Division - 22.5 to 36.4, and D Division 36.5 to 54.
With 22 entries in the Division A medal, competition was fierce for the Scratch and Handicap Trophies. Scoring was made difficult due to a low sun, lots of leaves and a persistent wind and the best gross score of the day was 78 by Nicki Jones (Nizels), winning by five shots from Canterbury's Angela Jones; (no one could keep up with them"¦). Nicki also had the best nett score with 70 but couldn't win more than one prize, so first prize went to Lelia Roche-Kelly (Sundridge Park) with a nett 74, with her clubmate, Jude Mackenzie, coming second, two shots back.
The B Division stableford was also fairly popular with 18 competitors doing battle for the trophy. Four players finished on 29 points and the countback rule came into play. Just losing out, the runner- up was Karen Sinden (Rochester and Cobham) with victory going to Shirley Beglinger (Sundridge Park).
The best stableford score of the day was 31 points by Chris Dee Crowne (Sundridge Park) who took the C Division trophy by one point from Royal Cinque Ports' Patricia Tordoir.
Alas, we had no entrants in D Division but hopefully they will be flocking in droves in 2023 when this event is held at Mid Kent on Tuesday 17 October.
Winner of B Division - Shirley Beglinger from Sundridge Park
Winner of C Division - Chris Dee-Crowne from Sundridge Park
A Division nett winner - Lelia Roche-Kelly from Sundridge Park
