The air was crisp, the ground was bedewed, but again the sun was shining on Kent Golf for the 2022 President’s Prize at Chestfield Golf Club. Twenty-eight players, in seven teams, arrived to do battle in this mixed-team, best-two-from-four stableford event.
The competitors were tested with tricky, fast- running greens – not that this bothered Karen Taylor (Redlibbets) who had her first ever eagle, which was worth a rather marvellous 5 points! And the rest of her team obviously weren’t bad either as they came in with the winning total of 86 points. Well done to Karen, Paul Watkins, Jane Watkins and Duncan Jenner (all Redlibbets). Not far behind them, on 83 points, were the runners-up – James Matthews (Canterbury), George Swayne (North Foreland), Chris Matthews and Paul Bunyan (both Stonelees Golf Centre).
Many thanks to Chestfield for their hospitality which was greatly enjoyed by all.
Next year’s competition will be held on Thursday 5 October at Pedham Place – hope to see some of you there!
