Christmas Meeting report

The trees may still be looking autumnal but there was a distinct wintry feel in the air at Kings Hill for the Christmas Meeting. Forty intrepid golfers – some in rather fetching jumpers – assembled for 18 holes betterball stableford and, with nearest the pins on all four par 3s, there was plenty of opportunity to go home with a prize.
The first two pairs out – Steve Deacon and Paul Wilson, and Steve Butler and Norman Kane (all West Malling) – set the pace in more ways than one. Round in good time with both pairs scoring 40 points, they held the top two spots for quite a while. Alas, it would transpire that Steve and Paul would lose third place on countback to Steve and Norman – perhaps bragging rights will be reversed next year?
Second place went to Cliff and Louise Earl (Corinthian) with 41 points. This was Louise’s first Kent competition – not a bad way to start! Hopefully this will be the first of many.
Our winners and Christmas Champions, with a fine 43 points, were Mark Parkinson (Langley Park Artisans) and Wayne Aris (Langley Park). They dovetailed brilliantly, scoring two or three points on every hole. Worthy winners!

11th – Clive Peddle (Langley Park Artisans)
17th – Jacqui Neilly (Corinthian)
