Statham Trophy report

Date published: 17 Feb 2023

Thirty lucky juniors were invited to the Royal St. George's GC for this year’s Statham Trophy. Three teams of ten representing the North, South and Central regions of Kent did battle over the famous links, with the best eight from ten stableford scores counting towards the team total. Conditions seemed favourable at the start but it was deceptively cold and, with the wind increasing in strength as the round progressed, scoring became difficult.

Well done to Ed Greenslade (Wildernesse) who was the top scorer among the boys with 34 points and congratulations also to Anouk Woodhouse (Sene Valley) who took the girls’ honours with 33 points. The winning team came from the Central region (236 points) with the North coming second (227) and the South just behind in third (225).

The members of the winning team were: Jake Antoun (Kings Hill), Tom Paterson (Boughton), Ed Greenslade (Wildernesse), Josh van Niekerk (Kings Hill), Cameron Garcha (Mid-Kent), Scott Antoun (Kings Hill), Marley Klosek (Faversham), Skye Fontanelli (Faversham), Claudia Carlotti (Canterbury) and Teagan Ford (Bearsted).

As always, everyone enjoyed the Royal St. George’s hospitality and we thank the club for their generosity towards Kent Golf and especially their encouragement of our juniors.
