Junior Organisers' Workshop

The annual Junior Organisers' Workshop was held at Bearsted GC on Wednesday, 1st March 2023.
After a welcome and introduction by Cheryl Power, Director, Golf Development there were presentations from Allison Boozer, Club Support Officer from England Golf who told us about their latest initiatives, Mike Hollis, Regional Development Officer from The Golf Foundation, spoke about some well-tested projects such as GolfSixes and some new projects such as 'Unleash Your Drive' which focuses on improving mental toughness, Hannah Eves, Assistant to the County Secretary (standing in for Kim Brusadelli, Junior Development Officer) delivered a presentation about Kent Golf's Disability Academies, Barbara Burns, Kent Golf's Welfare Officer gave some valuable insights into the safeguarding of young children and finally, Barry Sears, Junior Organiser at Faversham Golf Club outlined his packed year of activities in 2022 and then fielded some very good questions from his fellow junior organisers.
There was very good interaction with the audience throughout and there was lots of information and new ideas that they could take back to their clubs for recruiting and retaining young players.
Cheryl Power closed proceedings thanking everyone for their contributions to the evening and for the work the junior organisers do throughout the year, increasing participation in golf by junior players.
