On a hot and windy summer’s day, Kent's senior women took on Sussex at a brown and bouncy Hever Castle Golf Club.

We played a friendly fourball better ball format off scratch with 4 teams per side and from the start there was plenty of good golf on display from both teams. It was a close match right to the end, with the lead changing frequently.

Sussex won the first game then Kent won the second, Sussex rallied to win the third game and with Kent’s final pair 1 down through 16 holes we needed a strong finish. They delivered the goods, winning the long 526 yard 17th hole with a good par and then holed a 4-footer on the 18th green for the win.

The very well contested match therefore ended up tied. These friendly matches are very useful in providing competitive county level experience to our players who are striving to improve their games and challenge for places on the senior league team.
