Delegate and WIG Charter Champion Golf Day

Date published: 25 Feb 2023

The inaugural Kent Golf Club Delegate and WIG Charter Champions Day was held at Kings Hill GC on Wednesday 22 February and it was great to have 50 attendees representing 33 clubs – of which 19 were Club Delegates/Club Representatives, 7 were Women in Golf (WIG) Charter Champions and the remainder were Lady Captains/Vice Captains and General Managers.

After coffee, registration and an introductory welcome from Sarah McDonald, County Secretary, there were presentations from Allison Boozer, the England Golf Kent Club Support Officer on the WIG Charter, Mental Health Awareness from Rachael Walsh, Kent Golf Mental Health Ambassador, Kent Academies for Juniors, Women and Juniors & Young Adults with physical and learning disabilities from Cheryl Power, Director Golf Development as well as an overview of Kent Golf 2023 competitions from Golf Manager, Anne Wheble. All presentations were extremely well received with much interaction and engagement not to mention some great questions and input from those in attendance. In her closing speech, Sarah McDonald with the help of Assistant Secretary, Hannah Eves, conducted a surprise draw for a Kent Golf ‘goodie bag’ – the proud winner of which being Sue Siddle from Rochester & Cobham GC.

After a light lunch and yet more great engagement between Delegates, WIG Charter Champions and the Kent Golf team, several Delegates and WIG Charter Champions stayed on to enjoy a relaxed round of golf at Kings Hill. Our thanks to all of today’s presenters as well as those who kindly took the time to attend and contribute so freely to the many discussions that arose throughout the day. A big thank you to Kings Hill Golf Club for allowing us to host this inaugural event and their continued support of the County.
