Training & Coaching |
With our professional Mark Trow, our sessions are interactive, discussion based, and as a squad, we ensure that we are working towards the common goal of shooting lower scores and winning matches. We have a series of coaching days over the winter months, which are also a great way for the team to catch up. The aim of these sessions is to work on aspects of the game identified during the summer matches to ensure each player is equipped with all the tools they need to perform at their best. We spend the majority of our time working on shots within 100 yards, both on and off the course. This skill set is one which can always be improved no matter your age, flexibility or standard. We work on controlling distance and flight with our wedges, adding “new” chipping techniques and ensuring each player understands his recipe for success. Mark casts an eye over the team member’s full swing technique, with small reinforcements that provide optimum improvement with the minimal amount of change. Players are encouraged to further develop this with their own coaches or individually. The aim of these sessions is to work on aspects of the game identified during the summer matches to ensure each player is equipped with all the tools they need to perform at their best. This ensures each player improves their knowledge, technique and short game, with the aim the team as a whole will perform consistently at any venue in any tournament. We can further enlist the help of putting expert James Skelton and sports psychologist Matt Cunliffe as required. |
Matches & Competitions |
The Senior team has 3 League matches against Sussex, Surrey & Hampshire. These games consist of 10 Single scratch matches. The league winner plays in a one-off final against the winners of the other Southern Region League. Kent also has a pre-season friendly with Suffolk each year. Southeastern Foursomes Qualifier is played against Essex, Middlesex & Hertfordshire, 5 pairs playing knockout against these counties over 1 day with the overall winner playing in a final. 6-man Southeastern Qualifier - This event is played against 11 other counties over 2 days and the best 5 out of 6 scratch medal scores produces the winner. The winner of this event represents the South in the English Seniors Men’s County Championship. Team selection is based on multiple areas, including performances in previous county events both match-play and medal, and open competitions around the county and country. We are always looking to add to this to ensure the strongest possible pool of players to represent the county. |
