Kent Ladies vs North Foreland Men - 22nd February 2020

What a lovely day (Saturday 22 February 2020) again at North Foreland. We were made very welcome by everyone there including staff members, organisers and players. It was quite windy but no rain and we saw the sun for a split second!

The match was played in a very much fun and friendly spirit with lots of very close battles. The course was in excellent condition. The match was halved overall which was a fair result with lots of good golf being played. We look forward hopefully to a return next year.

Result:  KENT LADIES 1ST TEAM – 5 points | NORTH FORELAND LEAGUE TEAM –  5 points

County Week 2019 Results - Hendon Golf Club

DAY 1 – TUESDAY 25th JUNE – KENT V SUSSEX – WIN 5-4

Morning foursomes – 1.5 – 1.5 | Afternoon singles – 3.5 – 2.5

What a fantastic day’s golf we had today. Some exciting matches with the morning foursomes (Sharna and Millie, Nicola and Abbie and Ainee and Lily) all going to the 18th hole, overall finishing honours even for the session.
In the afternoon we got off to a great start with our 3 leading players, Sharna, Ainee and Nicola taking early control and in the end winning comfortably. Two of the other matches, Abbie and Lily, were lost leaving one of our players, Olivia, out on the course fighting it out, needing just a half to seal the victory for us and she played some wonderful and exciting golf to do just that. We were very happy with our win. Many thanks to our caddies and supporters who made to the journey to north London.

DAY 2 – WEDNESDAY 26th JUNE – KENT V SURREY – LOSS 3.5 – 5.5

Morning foursomes – 2-1 | Afternoon singles – 1.5 – 4.5

We had a very topsy turvy match against a strong Surrey side with great success in the  morning foursomes going into lunch 2-1 up by courtesy of wins by Nicola and Abbie and Ainee and Ellena.
So, buoyed up and optimistic for the afternoon singles, we fought some tough matches which could have gone either way but ended up with us taking only 1 1/2 points from 6 so losing overall by 5 1/2 points to 3 1/2 with a win by Sharna and a tied match by Nicola.
We again thank our caddies for all their support for the team today which was much appreciated by the girls.
We look forward to our next match against Middlesex

DAY 3 – THURSDAY 27th JUNE – KENT V MIDDLESEX – WIN 6.5 – 2.5

Morning foursomes – 2 – 1 | Afternoon singles – 4.5 – 2.5

Our match against Middlesex got off to a great start this morning. Sharna and Ellie led the way and had a very good win 3 and 2 followed by our ever successful pairing of Nicola and Abbie winning on the last hole leaving us 2-1 up at lunch.
The afternoon session saw some fantastic golf again with wins from Sharna, Abbie, Olivia and Ellena with Maria fighting back to halve her match giving us an overall win against Middlesex 6 1/2 – 2 1/2.
Our girls showed tremendous spirit again to seal this victory.
With Surrey already having been declared overall County Week winners, we will be doing our best to achieve 2nd place by beating Hampshire tomorrow. Once again we have to thank our wonderful caddies who came along to support today. It is really appreciated by the girls and by us. Thank you

DAY 4 – FRIDAY 28 JUNE – KENT V HAMPSHIRE – WIN 6-3

Morning foursomes – 2 – 1 | Afternoon singles – 4 – 2

What a wonderful last day of what has been a fantastic County Match Week.
The day started very successfully with our continued success in the foursomes (we hadn’t lost any of the morning sessions). We secured two wins by Sharna and Ellie and Maria and Ellena with Nicola and Abbie putting up a great fight as always but eventually losing their only game of 4 together this week.
So, in the afternoon we were looking for 3 wins to secure a victory and 2nd place overall.
All of the matches looked tough. Our first win came with a great win from Sharna (2 and 1) out at the front followed by a wonderful win by Liv (3 and 2). Ellena and Maria had very tough matches and although losing, fought extremely well. So, it was 2 matches each but with Nicola at dormie 4 things were looking very good! Nicola then closing this match out on the 16th hole brought us the victory we were looking for and great excitement and cheering by us!
At the back, our youngest player Ellie (14) was battling it out and had a superb win in the end (2 up) so we won the match overall 6-3.
